Back Nine in Oxford, Mississippi, is transforming its patio into a fully upgraded, all-weather space as part of a major renovation project, and it’s staying open throughout construction.

“We’re tearing the patio down to the dirt and remodeling it completely,” Co-owner Coty Childs told What Now Memphis. “It’s going to be a concrete base and adding additional bar seating across the railing and having it where we can actually close it in with motorized vinyl screens.”

Childs said the upgrade is much needed and will allow the space to be heated in the winter and cooled in the summer. Plans also include a small bar at the back of the patio with lounge seating for guests.

“We’re also adding an exit to increase the capacity,” Childs said. “We’ll be able to increase capacity to over double of what we are now.”

Known as “The Country Club on The Square,” the restaurant offers a full-service kitchen and bar and operates four Full Swing multi-sport simulators. Guests can choose from more than 15 interactive games, playing a round of golf or stepping into the role of their favorite NFL quarterback, according to the restaurant’s website.

Back Nine’s menu blends elevated bar food with Southern flair, including everything from loaded brisket fries and house-made flatbreads to wild-caught lobster rolls and wings tossed in a range of signature sauces.

Starters like surf and turf eggrolls, shrimp scampi dip and cheese curds set the tone, while salads and protein bowls provide lighter options. Burgers and sandwiches include a Memphis BBQ brisket burger, a Korean-style chicken sandwich and a classic patty melt. Flatbreads come in creative varieties like jerk chicken and black and blue, with a cauliflower crust option available.

They also offer a curated drink menu featuring a selection of beer and wine.

Back Nine is open Tuesday and Monday from 4 p.m. to midnight. Wednesday through Saturday, it opens at 11 a.m. and closes at midnight on Wednesday and 1 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. Sunday hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Construction will begin soon on the outdoor patio. For the latest updates, visit their website or follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
