Chipotle Mexican Grill, the fast-casual taqueria-style restaurant, is preparing to open a new location in Arlington at 5352 Airline Rd.

The company recently filed permits for the new 2.126-acre site on the east side of Airline Road, with construction costing $400,000, according to Memphis Business Journal. The Town of Arlington Planning Committee approved the 2,325-square-foot restaurant with a drive-thru in February. There is no exact opening date, but the company already has locations throughout the Memphis area, including Cordova, Midtown, Ridgeway Trace, Southaven, Summer Avenue, and Wolfchase Galleria.

The new restaurant will replace a home that was recently sold by its owners, located 600 ft north of Milton Wilson and Airline Rd intersection. Chipotle will sit across the street from O’Reilly, near RedMed Urgent Clinic and Sherwin-Williams. The area has undergone several renovations in recent years, with the aforementioned businesses and a new Patriot Bank being built from the ground up.

Chipotle’s newest location will feature the brand’s digital order drive-thru pick-up lane concept, Chipotlane. While customers can order inside the restaurant, the drive-thru will streamline mobile and phone orders. This concept launched in Canada in late 2021 and has already opened more than 500 locations. This year the company plans to open between 255 to 285 new restaurants, with at least 80% including a Chipotlane, according to a press release.
