Lana Hickey, owner of Crave Sweets Bake Shop, aims to open a second location in Germantown by late summer.

At the intersection of Neshoba Rd. and Germantown Pkwy., just down the street from the Germantown Performing Arts Center, the new bakery sits in a prime location in the new Thornwood Development.

Lana also owns Crave Coffee Bar & Bistro in Arlington, which opened seven years ago. There she dabbled in pastries and cupcakes, and the desserts were a growing favorite. When the tenant next door moved out, she claimed that spot to open the first Crave Sweets Bake Shop.

“We got into it with the idea of doing homemade desserts and that kind of thing, but we never expected to get into the wedding business,” she tells What Now Memphis. Today, the bakery prepares 10–12 wedding cakes per weekend throughout the nine-month busy season.

With the five-year-old bakery “busting at the seams,” it is now time for an additional location. The brand-new building is currently under construction to create the look and feel Lana desires. She is excited to be able to offer a private consultation area for her brides, as well.

Top-selling cravings include six-inch Case Cakes in a variety of flavors, Gooey Cookies, and the bakery’s signature Banana Pudding Cake. The bakery caters to special dietary needs as well, with something for everyone. “We are incredibly passionate with every piece of cake art that we complete and we hope that it shows!” reads the website.
