Crosstown Concourse’s Curb Market this summer will be transformed into deli and grocery store combo The Mad Grocer, the Memphis Business Journal is reporting.
Owners Max Hussey, former Executive Chef at Folk’s Folly and wife, Josie Terhune, tell the Business Journal Memphians can expect a July 1, 2023 debut with “all things going to plan.”
The space, at 1350 Concourse Ave #163, will receive a lunch counter as part of a revamp ahead of opening, making it possible for upwards of 40 patrons to dine inside.
“Beginning July 1, The Mad Grocer will be taking over Crosstown Concourse’s Curb Market location,” Crosstown Concourse announced last week in an Instagram post. “While we’re sad to say farewell to Curb, we’re excited to welcome Max Hussey and his wife Josie Terhune to the Crosstown Concourse family.”
In addition to sandwiches and grocery staples previously offered at Curb Market, The Mad Grocer will retail house-cured meats, house-made mozzarella, ricotta, and sausages. Plans also call for “nostalgic ice cream treats and will carry candy bars, energy drinks, and chips for the high school kids.”
“We will be curing our own meats, including corned beef and pastrami, making our own mozzarella and ricotta cheeses and our own sausages— andouille, bratwurst, and Italian,” Hussey told the Business Journal. “We will be using Creekstone beef as it is Halal and Kosher. In-house smoked salmon, tuna, and trout will be offered along with more traditional deli fare.”
