In news certain to cause a buzz of excitement among Memphis foodies, a brand-new pizzeria is preparing to take a bite out of the city. Shreya’s Pizza has been steadily making its way through the permitting process for about a year, and appears to be coming to the finish line and preparing to feed hungry visitors.

The restaurant will be slinging its pies at 3439 Park Avenue. Forms pertaining to Shreya’s filed with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development show that the concept will be occupying 2,000 square feet and will have an occupancy load of 60. The certificate of occupancy also stipulates that the restaurant will be serving alcoholic beverages for the over-21 crowd and will function at least partially as a brew pub. Additionally, the permit states that Shreya’s will have wood and gas fired pizza ovens-exciting news for diners with discerning taste.

There is not a definitive opening timeline for the establishment, however recent permit acquisitions bode well for Shreya’s forward momentum. The concept received its commercial electrical permit on November 5, as well as its sign permit on the same day. It received an amendment to its commercial mechanical permit on the 5th as well, which states that the pizza oven was installed-inarguably the most essential element of the restaurant.

Shreya’s has been in the works for some time; it received its certificate of occupancy late last December. The concept does not yet have a digital footprint, however owner Thiru Ramasamy made a social media post looking for workers for the new restaurant this October-another positive indicator that piping hot slices are on the way. What Now Memphis has reached out to Ramasamy for further information and will update readers as more details become available.
