For a long time the phrase “fast-casual” was synonymous with “deep fried”. Diners understood that the trade off for quickly prepared, inexpensive fare was the sacrifice of more nutritious options. However, the market is enjoying a brand new day, with greater opportunities and lighter selections customers can feel good about. Frutta Bowls, a young and hungry chain offering healthier options, is preparing to make sure Memphis foodies can enjoy the onslaught of better-for-you fast casual cuisine. The company has signed on with a trio of local franchisees to open four new stores in the area, reports QSR.
The Memphis-area Frutta Bowls will be helmed by hospitality veterans Akash Chaudhari, Sanjay Chaudhari and Brijesh Patel. The deal between the entrepreneurs and WOWorks-Frutta Bowls’ parent company-is still new, making details sparse. The inaugural storefront will likely be in either Germantown or Cordova, though a lease has not been signed, nor is a timeline available. The Frutta Bowls team is also considering locations in Olive Branch and Southaven as additional potential locations.
Franchisee Akash Chaudhari explains that he and his partners were drawn to Frutta Bowls after the pandemic caused a downturn in the hotel industry. They felt the chain offered a new and appealing opportunity for both investors and patrons. He states: “After months of research, Frutta Bowls stood out as the perfect match for the Memphis market. For consumers, it’s healthy and quick. And from a business standpoint, we like that the brand has low overhead, and this concept is fresh and exciting to the market.”
Launched in 2016, Frutta Bowls has built its brand around the growing passion for plant-based treats like acai bowls and smoothies. The restaurant invites visitors to customize their dishes to create their ideal meal.
