A new East Memphis restaurant concept is taking root and preparing to blossom. Greenhouse Bar has filed paperwork to open as a mysterious new contender in the local dining scene, reports Commercial Appeal.
Little information is currently available about the project beyond some basic physical facts. Greenhouse Bar will be opening its doors at 786 East Brookhaven Circle in the space that housed Windjammer Restaurant and Lounge until its closure in 2017. That particular restaurant was demolished in 2018, and its new inhabitant will be constructed from the ground up as what is described in the application to the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development as “New construction of a greenhouse structure bar.”
Greenhouse Bar will have a dedicated 3,300 square feet. Memphis foodies hoping to people watch as they enjoy their meal can look forward to dining on the restaurant’s 885-square-foot outdoor patio. The application states the intended use for the space as “Restaurant with sale of alcoholic beverages, Brew Pub”. While this does not clarify much, paired with the name and the description of “a greenhouse structure bar”, it seems probable that Greenhouse Bar will be botanically themed, providing an entirely unique dining experience.
