The Memphis culinary scene is a-buzz with the promise of a new location for a beloved local bakery. Josh Steiner is bringing his concept, Hive Bagel & Deli to East Memphis next year, reports local media outlet Daily Memphian.

Hive has filed a commercial alteration permit with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development for a storefront at 585 Erin Drive. It seems the location is destined for deli greatness; Hive will be bringing a different but thematically similar energy to the space than its previous inhabitant, Holiday Deli & Ham Co.

Memphis foodies still have a bit of a wait ahead of them before enjoying Steiner’s delicious carbs; Hive confirmed via an Instagram post that it is anticipating a summer of 2026 opening. Steiner, for his part, is enthusiastic about bringing his fare to a new audience. He states: “We’re excited to be out east, and the space is bigger. We’re excited to reach the other part of Memphis.”

In the meantime, hungry locals can stop into Hive’s 276 South Front Street, suite 105 storefront to enjoy: “A seed-to-plate concept that uses local, high-quality ingredients to make fresh bagels and baked goods.” Guests can choose from a range of New York-style bagels alongside several classic and unexpected flavors of cream cheese. Hive also offers a selection of bagel sandwiches, salads, sandwiches, breads, and pastries. Visitors will be able to slake their thirst with coffee and tea drinks.
