A new restaurant serving hot pot and other small dishes, along with a bar and karaoke for customers, is coming to the former site of the second location of DeeO’s Seafood.
Owner Weiping Weng applied for a certificate of occupancy with Memphis this month for the space at 711 East Parkway South for his business, which will be called 711 Social.
According to property details, the lot is 3,920 square feet and located in the East Midtown section of the city. The Children’s Museum of Memphis, Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium, and the Memphis Sports & Events Center are all nearby.
Hot pot is a popular Korean dish that features a hot broth that can have various ingredients including meat, seafood, tofu, dumplings, vegetables and noodles.
DeeO’s Seafood flagship restaurant is still located on North Germantown Parkway. Other restaurants have also had that space in the strip center on the northwest corner of the parkway, including 901 Grill.
Memphis has seen other hot pot and Korean eateries popping up in the area, including the chain KPOT Korean BBQ and Hot Pot and 901 Hot Pot & Korean BBQ on Germantown Parkway, according to previous reporting by What Now Memphis.
What Now Memphis has contacted the manager of the upcoming restaurant for additional comment.
