A Birmingham, Alabama-based fast-food chain is expanding in Memphis.

According to a recently filed commercial construction permit, Jack’s Family Restaurants is planning a new location at 3385 Austin Peay Hwy in Raleigh, marking its sixth eatery in the Memphis area.

Founded in 1960 in Homewood (a suburb of Birmingham), Jack’s is known for its classic Southern staples like burgers, biscuits, fried chicken, and milkshakes. Each freestanding restaurant spans approximately 3,200 square feet and employs an average of 25 to 30 people.

The chain—which currently operates more than 300 locations across Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, and Tennessee—already serves customers in Southeast Memphis, Millington, Covington, Olive Branch, and Tunica.

What Now Memphis has reached out to the Jack’s team for details on the opening timeline and will share updates as they become available.
