A local food truck and catering service is planning its first brick-and-mortar location.
Da Sammich Spot Restaurant and Resource Hub is setting up shop at 3020 Park Ave, Suite 102 in Orange Mound. Owner Rob Brown—who launched the business as a pop-up shop and catering service back in 2020—announced the news on Facebook:
“[We have] rebranded a little and moved into our own space in Orange Mound,” he said. “We are now Da Sammich Spot Restaurant and Resource Hub… a brand new place to connect to resources while you eat fresh gourmet Sammich’s and other delicious eateries.”
In addition to its variety of signature sandwiches, flatbreads, and paninis, Da Sammich Spot will offer a menu of fries, wraps, salads, smoothies, and chili, plus a cereal and coffee bar every morning from 7-11 a.m.
However, Da Sammich Spot will provide more than just food. Brown told What Now Memphis that he envisions the space as a community hub, hosting monthly services such as:
- Expungement assistance from the County Clerk’s office
- Utility support with MLGW representatives
- Benefits navigation through SNAP and WIC programs
- Rental aid from the Community Services Agency
- Workshops on civil, political, artistic, and financial literacy
To further support the community, Brown plans to offer access to laptops for job applications and other online needs. He is also partnering with fellow black-owned businesses such as The Check-In, Art House Cafe, and Cxffeeblack to create a robust range of resources for residents.
“A lot of my professional/grassroots work over the years was building networks and connections,” said Brown. “I plan to use that to offer a myriad of things that the community may want/need.”
Brown is adding finishing touches to the space, and he hopes to open Da Sammich Spot Restaurant and Resource Hub in roughly one month.
