The national casual dining restaurant Longhorn Steakhouse is preparing to construct a new location in Millington at 8611 US-51.

Parent company Darden Restaurants recently applied for a commercial new construction permit to open a brand new steakhouse in the current home of KFC near the Millington Farms Shopping Center. There is no exact opening date, but considering the project is in its early stages, fans of the restaurants likely won’t see it open until the end of the year, possibly early 2024. This will be the fourth Longhorn Steakhouse in the Memphis area, with sites Bartlett, Collierville, and Southhaven, MS.

When the new restaurant opens, customers can expect the highest quality beef, ribs, chops, chicken, and more. The expansion proves Darden is nowhere close to slowing down. In fact, the company recently acquired Ruth’s Hospitality Group for about $715 Million, according to a press release. Ruth’s Chris has 154 locations around the globe, including 80 company-owned restaurants and 74 franchised locations. Other restaurants in Darden’s portfolio include Olive Garden, Yard House, Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen, The Capital Grille, Seasons 52, Bahama Breeze, and Eddie V’s.

“Ruth’s Chris is a strong and distinctive brand in the fine dining segment with an impressive history of delivering elevated dining experiences to their loyal guests,” Darden President and CEO Rick Cardenas said in a press release. “It fits the criteria we have for adding a brand to our portfolio and supports our winning strategy. Ruth’s Chris is a great complement to our portfolio of brands, and I’m pleased to welcome their nearly 5,000 team members to Darden.”
