A Millington-based barbecue, catfish, and ribs restaurant is considering an expansion to Lakeland.

Pig-N-Whistle recently filed for a Certificate of Occupancy at a location on Woodland Pine Drive in Lakeland. However, founder and owner Bill Rupert told What Now Memphis that these plans have since fallen through.

Despite the setback, Rupert is still actively searching for a suitable site in the area, although no new locations have been selected yet. He expressed enthusiasm about the prospect, stating, “We’d love to be out there.”

Founded in 1990, Pig-N-Whistle is celebrated for its generous portions of Memphis-style barbecue, ribs, and catfish, complemented by homemade sauces and dry shake seasoning. The eatery originally debuted on Kerrville Rosemark Road but later moved to 8800 US-51 North, where it remains today.

Keep an eye out for further updates as Pig-N-Whistle continues its search for a Lakeland location.
