A smaller chain of fast-casual cafés is set to expand across Greater Memphis.
Franchisee Dr. Spencer Mooney has signed a development deal to open three more Newk’s Eatery locations in the area over the next few years. Though specific sites haven’t been chosen yet, Mooney is actively searching.
Newk’s CEO Frank Paci told The Daily Memphian that the expansion aligns with a broader growth strategy for the 20-year-old brand, which currently operates more than 125 restaurants across 15 states. He noted that this initiative is a natural move for the Mississippi-based company, given its proximity to Memphis.
Newk’s offers a variety of classic café dishes, including soups, sandwiches, salads, pizzas, and cakes. The chain already boasts outlets in East Memphis, Collierville, and Southaven—sites Mooney acquired two years ago through his company, Mooney Restaurant Ventures LLC.
“Since Dr. Mooney has taken over these stores, we’ve seen significant increases in sales,” Paci told The Daily Memphian. “He’s got a great track record within the Newk’s system, and so we’re very confident that he’s going to continue to grow sales there.”
Stay tuned for updates on Newk’s Eatery’s forthcoming locations as sites are selected and timelines are established.
