After more than a year of anticipation, a new and convenient Memphis concept is getting close to opening its doors. Northside Grill, a streamlined restaurant, is moving steadily through the permitting process and inching towards feeding hungry locals.
The compact eatery-described as a “drive-thru diner” on forms submitted to the Downtown Memphis Commission Design Review Board-will be opening at 724 North Bellevue Boulevard. Blueprints show that Northside Grill will occupy a renovated 311 square foot building and will feature a drive-thru and a walk-up order window.
Northside Grill will be bringing something a little different to the fast casual dining scene; the description of the eatery included on the Design Review Board application describes it as a “fast food restaurant highlighting turkey legs”-an interesting deviation from the typical burgers, fries, and chicken nuggets.
An opening date is not currently available, however Northside is moving steadily through the required permitting processes. The Review Board approved the concept’s application this June, giving owner Reginald Randolph the go ahead to commence the relatively involved improvements required to turn the building into a restaurant. Northside submitted a sign permit with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development on September 10, suggesting that the concept is getting closer to an opening.
