Study breaks are about to get a little more delicious for University of Memphis students. Petals of a Peony, “Memphis’s authentic Chengdu-style Sichuan restaurant” is opening a new location near the University in the near future, according to a social media post.
The restaurant will be greeting customers at 551 S Highland Street. The February 21 Facebook post states: “Something spicy is coming to campus…Petals of a Peony is opening near the University of Memphis…Late-night cravings, post-exam hunger, or just escaping the dining hall…we’re almost ready.”
The post does not mention a specific opening date, saying only that it is “opening very soon”. The post shows a storefront with a Petals of a Peony banner hanging out front and what appears to be ongoing renovations indoors.
University of Memphis students will doubtless be excited to elevate their dining game. Petals of a Peony has garnered acclaim from no less than the Michelin Guide, which describes it as “ground zero for fiery, tongue-numbing, chili-laden Sichuan cuisine.” The restaurant has 2 locations open as well as 2 Little Petals Chinese offshoot locations.
