A new spot for authentic Nicaraguan fare is coming to East Memphis.
Tipitapa will open at 3309 Kirby Pkwy, taking over the space currently occupied by Mama’s Kitchen (formerly Safari Grill). The new eatery will also expand into the neighboring unit at 3307 Kirby Pkwy.
Owner and head chef Stanly Rivas confirmed this news with What Now Memphis, sharing that the full-service eatery will offer a variety of traditional Nicaraguan dishes.
Guests can look forward to gallopinto (Nicaraguan rice and beans), arroz aguado (chicken and rice stew), tostones (crispy plantains), and quesillo (corn tortilla with cheese), along with a selection of beer.
The closing date for Mama’s Kitchen is still uncertain, but Rivas hopes to open Tipitapa within the next few months, pending permit approvals.
