A new Whataburger location appears to be in the works at 3576 Austin Peay Hwy in Memphis, as indicated by a recently issued commercial new construction permit.

The popular fast-casual hamburger chain first announced plans to expand into the Memphis market in July 2022, outlining a four-restaurant deal. Spearheaded by Vice President of Operations and Senior Market Leader Jon Barideaux, the franchise has successfully launched all four locations. Although Barideaux has not responded to our request for comment at this time, Whataburger enthusiasts can anticipate a swift opening, aligning with the timelines of the other local establishments.

In the original press release for the Memphis expansion, the company unveiled plans to further embed the brand in the community through collaborations with events such as the Bluff City Balloon Jamboree and Southaven Springfest. Additionally, they expressed a commitment to the city through sponsorships for the Memphis Redbirds and University of Memphis Athletics. Whataburger also engages with the community by partnering with the Mid-South Food Bank (MSFB), providing both financial support and in-kind donations of pantry items and school supplies.

As Whataburger continues to make its mark in Memphis, this forthcoming location signifies not only the expansion of a beloved fast-food chain but also a commitment to community engagement and support. Stay tuned for further updates as more details become available.
