Randy Washburn of Burroughs Restaurant Group is aiming to open a new Guthrie’s Chicken at 8277 McGregor Crossing in Olive Branch this June.

The location is currently awaiting permit approval and will soon be under construction in a new development known as The Bridges of Camp Creek. This will be Burroughs Restaurant Group’s fourth Guthrie’s Chicken, joining three now open in Memphis, Tennessee, and one in Oxford, Mississippi. There are plans in the works for more to come in the Memphis metro area.

“Olive Branch is the fastest-growing city in Mississippi, so we felt like it would be the perfect place for us,” Randy Washburn tells What Now Memphis.

The first Guthrie’s Chicken was a drive-in restaurant located in Haleyville, Alabama, and opened in 1965. When he decided to add chicken fingers to the menu, founder Hal Guthrie challenged his three youngest children to come up with the best dipping sauce … and they did.

Guthrie’s Chicken offers a simple menu featuring Golden Fried Chicken Fingers, Crispy Fries, Creamy Cole Slaw, Buttery Texas Toast, Guthrie’s Signature Sauce and Famous Sweet Tea. The Sandwich consists of chicken fingers, lettuce and signature sauce on a bun. By far, the bestseller on Guthrie’s menu is the Box, also commonly termed the “gut box,” filled with a little of everything.
