West Palm Beach’s Nora District, “a pedestrian-friendly arts and shopping district just north of downtown West Palm Beach” developed by NDT Development, Wheelock Street Capital and Place Projects, is future home of New York-born restaurant Pastis’s second South Florida location. Pastis, which launched its first South Florida location in Wynwood in 2023, will occupy a ground-floor space in the Nora Hotel, according to coverage from Costar.com.

“Since opening Pastis in Miami last year, the positive response to the restaurant has been astounding. Residents of Palm Beach, West Palm Beach and the surrounding areas have asked me countless times to bring Pastis to their neighborhood,” Stephen Starr, the restaurateur behind Starr Restaurants and both South Florida Pastis locations, said in a press release cited in the Costar coverage.

The restaurant’s Wynwood location made the Miami New Times’ list of ten most anticipated restaurant openings in 2023. The New Times then described “a menu that covers brunch, lunch, and dinner and highlights traditional French fare with signature offerings like garlic and parsley-seasoned escargot, moules frites, and steak sandwiches topped with caramelized onions and melted Gruyère.”

Since then, Pastis has also launched a new location in Washington, D.C. The concept was born in 1999 in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District, where it operated until 2014. Pastis would not reopen until 2019, but it’s clear that since then, the brand has found its feet and has placed them on the growth path.

What Now reached out to Stephen Starr on Wednesday to inquire about plans for the Nora District opening. Starr was not immediately available for comment.
