Publix is bringing a new supermarket to North Bay Village in cooperation with Shoma Group.
The beloved grocery chain is slated to anchor the mixed-use Shoma Bay development, located at 1850 John F. Kennedy Causeway. The approximately 35,000-square-foot store is expected to open as part of the waterfront project, providing the first Publix location for North Bay Village residents. The development will also include luxury condominiums, restaurants and additional retail space, creating a walkable destination along Biscayne Bay. The project, along with Publix, is slated to open either late 2026 or early 2027.
Founded in 1930 by George W. Jenkins in Winter Haven, Publix has grown into the largest employee-owned company in the United States. The Lakeland-based supermarket chain operates more than 1,400 stores across Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Kentucky, and is consistently recognized for its customer service and workplace culture.
Publix is loved throughout the south for its clean stores, customer service, and amenities such as an in-store bakery and sub shop.
Developed by Shoma Group, Shoma Bay combines upscale residences with everyday conveniences, including shopping, dining and wellness-focused amenities designed to create a live-work-play environment.
