Mami Cafe, a community-focused specialty coffee shop, is getting ready to open in Saint-André-de-Kamouraska at 143 Main Street.

The company’s new location is set to operate inside the Maison culturelle Armand Vaillancourt, a historic building known locally as the old school, according to Silo57. The cafe is expected to open in May 2026 and is owned by Marilee Kim, who relocated from Montreal after 30 years to settle in the village. Customers can expect specialty coffee, simple takeaway food, and a relaxed setting for both locals and visitors.

The cafe will be part of a broader cultural space that includes an art gallery operated by the Armand Vaillancourt Foundation. The building has long served as a creative hub, and the addition of Mami Cafe will further support exhibitions, events, and community gatherings. The project continues the site’s artistic presence while introducing a new everyday use for the space.

Saint-André-de-Kamouraska, along the St. Lawrence River, is a small village of around 700. The cafe’s riverbank location is near outdoor destinations, including trails and climbing areas, as well as the Société d’écologie de la batture du Kamouraska.

The concept centers on a simple menu built around specialty coffee and seasonal ingredients. The cafe will feature a small rotating market showcasing local artists and artisans, along with seating for working or relaxing. Board games will also be available to encourage social interaction.

Outdoor seating overlooking the river will be offered during warmer months, creating a place for visitors and residents to gather. The overall vision connects culture, nature, and community, with a focus on a welcoming environment. Mami Cafe is expected to serve as both a daily stop for locals and a destination for travelers exploring the Lower St. Lawrence region.
