Mōrea Parc Aquatique, located on Chaumont Street near exit 28 of Highway 15, in the heart of Cité Mirabel, is set to become the largest indoor water park ever built in the province, featuring various family-fun activities and on-site dining options.

The complex, estimated to cost between $175 million and $200 million, will feature over 20 water attractions, including a surf simulator, water roller coasters, a lazy river, and interactive play zones, according to MTL Blog. It will also include two hotels connected by a sky bridge, a full spa and wellness centre, on-site restaurants, retail shops, rooftop reception spaces, a 70,000-square-foot convention centre, and a 1,500-seat theatre for performances and large events. Construction is officially scheduled to begin in summer 2026. The first phase, which includes the Polynesian-inspired water park and one of the hotels, is expected to open sometime in 2028.

Initially announced in 2021 as the MOANA Aquatics Centre, the project was delayed due to economic challenges. It now moves forward with a new name and expanded vision. Dining will be a key element of the experience, with on-site restaurants planned as part of the development. The surrounding Mirabel area is known for its farm-to-table restaurants and traditional Quebec sugar shacks, which highlight local ingredients and regional cuisine.

The water park’s design is inspired by French Polynesian architecture and landscapes, according to a press release. Site features include an 11-storey parking facility, an aerial walkway connecting the buildings, and sustainability elements such as advanced water recycling systems and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. The project, led by Ray Junior Courtemanche, is expected to create more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs. Transportation plans include pedestrian infrastructure, bus drop-off areas, access to Exo transit services, and electric bike stations.

“Mōrea is a dream come true,” Courtemanche, founder of Investissement Ray Junior, said in a press release. “This project is particularly close to my heart, inspired by the beauty of the islands and my own travels. I wanted to create a place where young and old alike could share unforgettable moments together, a place where joy, family, and nature meet to offer endless happiness.”
