Located on Murfreesboro Pike, Delicias De El Salvador specializes in Salvadoran cuisine and is popularly known for its pupusas and tamales.

The restaurant recently underwent a routine health inspection on October 9. During the inspection conducted by the Tennessee Department of Health, the restaurant received a score of 77.

According to the inspection report, Delicias De El Salvador was cited for several health code violations. The report mentioned 15 violations, such as:

  • During the recent health inspection, several food safety issues were reported, including raw whole fish thawed in a 3-compartment sink next to dirty dishes without cleaning. Raw chicken and other meats were also left to be defrosted in the mop sink, which is used for chemicals and dirty water.
  • The report further mentioned that cooked chicken made two hours prior was left unattended on a prep table at 80°F before refrigeration. So it was reheated to 188°F to safely restart the cooling process during the inspection.
  • Cut tomatoes and lettuce prepared an hour earlier were stored in a reach-in cooler at 53–60°F. Inspectors moved the items to another cooler, and the faulty unit will remain out of use until repaired.
  • According to the report, sliced cooked beef was also found by the officials in the freezer, which had no label or date; it was made over 24 hours ago, so it was labeled, and the person in charge was retrained on proper date marking.
  • The restaurant was using grocery bags to store pork in the deep freezer. The inspectors also noticed a chipped knife placed above the 3-compartment sink.
  • The official health inspection report further mentioned the uncovered trash can in the women’s bathroom, the broken gasket on the deep freezer in the serving room, and the discolored and stained kitchen ceiling tiles.
  •  The officials also noted a buildup of debris and dust in the vent above the prep table.

More detailed information regarding the violations is available in the official inspection report.
