Sushi-san, from Chicago-based hospitality group Lettuce Entertain You, has landed a $2.3 million permit for its planned 6,585-square-foot restaurant, according to reporting by the Nashville Business Journal.

The restaurant is expected to open later this year at Ashwood 12 South. Sushi-san currently has three locations open in Chicago. The spot serves Japanese cuisine.

“Sushi-San serves up the best sushi in Chicago made with the freshest ingredients they can find, all served with a side of old-school hip-hop and ice-cold beer. The bar is kept stocked with rare Japanese whisky, sake, wine and inventive cocktails,” the Sushi-san website states.

Lettuce Entertain You, founded in 1971 by R.J. Melman, has multiple restaurants in its portfolio, including Mediterranean concept Aba, Italian restaurant Antico Posto and Mediterranean restaurant Ema. The hospitality group has a strong presence in the Chicago area but has been expanding into other markets. Sushi-san will be the first Lettuce concept to enter the Nashville market.

“Sushi-san is a neighborhood-driven concept and we feel that Ashwood 12 South will cater perfectly to the 12 South neighborhood and we are looking forward to being a part of it,” Melman said in a previous release.
