Ometeo, a modern Tex-Mex concept from Washington, D.C.-based Long Shot Hospitality, is preparing to open at 50 Peabody Street in Nashville’s South Bank neighborhood, according to recent reporting by the Nashville Business Journal. The restaurant will join the Peabody Union mixed-use development near the future Starbucks office hub.
The concept was developed alongside Top Chef winner and Chef-Partner Gabe Erales, an El Paso native whose culinary background helped shape Ometeo’s contemporary take on Tex-Mex cuisine. According to the company, the Nashville location will build on the original concept, with a stronger emphasis on live-fire cooking and on ingredients sourced from the South and the Gulf Coast.
“We’re excited to bring Ometeo to Nashville, offering a take on Tex-Mex that respects its roots,” Long Shot Hospitality Partner Jeremy Carman said in a statement. “Our goal is to highlight nostalgic dishes while maintaining a sense of curiosity for new flavors and techniques.”
Carman added that Nashville’s food culture and creative energy made the city a natural fit for the concept.
Signature dishes such as Matamoros tacos, beef rib with ayocotes, and chile colorado enchiladas are expected to remain on the menu, alongside new offerings developed for the Nashville location. According to the company, live-fire cooking will play a larger role in the kitchen, complemented by a chef-driven fajita program and a scratch-made tortilla program featuring both heirloom corn and flour tortillas.
The concept’s name is derived from ōmetēotl, a Nahuatl philosophy representing duality. According to the company, Ometeo draws inspiration from both Texas and Mexico while incorporating ingredients and influences tied to Tennessee.
Grizform Design Architects is leading the restaurant’s design. Plans call for multiple dining spaces, handcrafted tile and ironwork details, a bar beneath vaulted arches and a large outdoor patio overlooking the Cumberland River near Ascend Amphitheater.
The Nashville Business Journal reported that Ometeo will occupy approximately 10,000 square feet at Peabody Union. The development continues to attract a mix of restaurant, office, and residential tenants as activity expands throughout the South Bank district.
An opening timeline has not yet been announced. WhatNow Nashville will provide further updates as additional information becomes available.
