You have to strike while the iron is still hot — or while the fried chicken is still sizzling — as they say, and a National Fried Chicken Festival winner Red Bird Fried Chicken is poised to expand across Louisiana. The next location will be in Livingston Parish at 660 Sac Au Lait Ln. in Denham Springs. The current two other locations are in New Orleans and Covington. According to BRProud.com, the owners chose this location because of the family population in Denham Springs and the fact that it’s a high-traffic area.

Each Red Bird location has a similar menu that includes mild or spicy bone-in fried chicken, chicken tenders, chicken nuggets, fried shrimp, fried catfish, red beans and rice, chicken and sausage gumbo, and fried okra. The chain won Best Fried Chicken at last year’s Fried Chicken Fest, and its fried chicken is known for an extra-crispy, reddish crust. The company plans to open as many as 15 locations across Louisiana in the coming two years.
