Southern Chicks Café & Daiquiris is a cafe-style restaurant that’s found success on the outskirts of Baton Rouge, and the restaurant is preparing to parlay that success into a new location in the capital city at 7112 Florida Blvd.

Franchisee Brandon Olajide and his business partner Jeremy Washington-Scott were looking to open a quick service restaurant in Baton Rouge, and scouting different concepts when they visited Southern Chicks in New Roads. Olajide told What Now New Orleans that they were blown away by the quality of the food and the service being provided by owner Angel Ewing.

“The owner was there serving us and I could tell she was on it based on how she was moving around and taking care of the customers,” Olajide said. “So, I talked to Ms. Angel and she was really excited about the prospect of a place in Baton Rouge. She tried before, but couldn’t find the right partner.”

When it opens this spring, the new Southern Chicks location will offer the same food menu, which includes fried chicken, chicken tenders, burgers, salads, sandwiches, and wraps. However, it will have different daiquiri options than the original. Olajide said they have plans to offer a two- or three-piece chicken and daquiri special to give people a chance to try different flavors. He added that, as a Baton Rouge native, he’s happy to open a business that will boost his community with a great product and job opportunities.

“This will be my first time running a business in Baton Rouge, being able to hire people in my community, and being able to give back,” he said. “So, I’m excited.”
