Camellia Boulevard is a growing commercial strip in Lafayette that appears set to include a new beer garden with spaces for food truck vendors. According to a document filed with the Lafayette Consolidated Government, BE Holdings LLC has applied for the rezoning of a property near the intersection of Camellia Boulevard and Bluebird Drive that would allow for the beer garden, and officials with the planning department have recommended approving the request. The zoning commission has not yet set a date for voting on the application.

The application indicated that the beer garden would have a total seating capacity of 388 guests. It would be open until midnight during the week and later on weekends. What Now New Orleans has been able to confirm that it will be an indoor-outdoor beer garden with local food trucks. The owners plan to keep many of the large oak trees on the property and cultivate a family-friendly, pet-friendly vibe.

The area of Lafayette being targeted for the beer garden is already seeing significant growth. A Rouses Market location opened near the same intersection last year, and a Trader Joe’s is expected to open on the property adjacent to the prospective beer garden.
