A 5,100-square-foot former restaurant in Baton Rouge was recently sold to a group that plans to open multiple restaurant concepts on the same property. According to The Advocate, one concept will be an Indian restaurant and the other two concepts will be “complementary” restaurants. MAARS Properties LLC of Baton Rouge purchased the building and plans to develop the different concepts. The building at 11777 Coursey Blvd. Used to be home to a Cajun restaurant called Boil & Roux. That restaurant had been plagued by controversy involving its neighbors, government officials, and the property owner.
The idea of several restaurants under one roof is reminiscent of the popular food hall concept, which has had some success in Baton Rouge. While the White Star Market was a relatively newer concept that sadly closed during COVID, the Main Street Market has been around since 2002 add is considered by many people to be the city’s first modern food hall.
