Plans for marketplace and restaurant BLDG 5’s second location in Mid City South are moving forward, according to a building permit filing. The restaurant is set to move into a space on 7515 Guy Dr., the former kingdom of a Burger King.

Co-owners Misti and Brumby Broussard opened the first BLDG 5 in 2019, in the shadow of the Perkins Road Overpass. Perhaps you’ve seen its green and grey sign with a light-up yellow arrow pointed straight down.

The restaurant serves lunch and dinner, offering a menu of New American food, from Cajun pork stew to shrimp Panang. They’re particularly known for their shareable boards (though you can also just get a board for one).

Frankly, the main attraction at BLDG 5 is the BLDG itself, rustic, eclectic and curated. With so much attention devoted to the restaurant’s ambiance, one can’t help but wonder how BLDG 5 will transform a former Burger King into a distinctive space.

The upcoming BLDG 5 location does not have an opening date as of yet.
