After launching as a food truck in late 2020, Chicky Sandos is getting into the brick-and-mortar game, and company owners recently filed for a new location at 7930 Jefferson Hwy. in Baton Rouge. The small restaurant space is attached to a gas station and used to be home to a Kolache Kitchen location. What Now New Orleans reached out to ownership for details but did not receive a reply.
The Chicky Sandos food truck built its success on a fairly limited menu that revolved around the Sando, a Nashville hot chicken sandwich served with pickles, coleslaw, and propriety Sando sauce on a brioche bun. The food truck menu also included spicy chicken tenders and loaded waffle fries; the latter topped with chopped chicken tenders, two kinds of cheese, green onions and Sando sauce. Those looking to buy food for a party could purchase large-format party packs. Fans of Chicky Sandos have claimed that its chicken is as good as the chicken being served from the most popular chains, including Popeye’s, Hattie B’s, and Chick-Fil-A.
