Café and Hookah Bar Coming to Upper Canal Street Area

A former tax services office at 2233 Canal St. is set to become Hookah Oasis, a café and hookah bar. According to a permit filing with the City of New Orleans, the café will offer table service for food and non-alcoholic beverages. It will also have an indoor seating area for about 70 people and an outdoor hookah patio. What Now New Orleans has reached out for more information.

While the upper Canal Street area between the Central Business District and Mid-City has languished for years, there has been development in bits and pieces. However, the most notable recent commercial developments, such as the opening of a Trader Joe’s on Tulane Avenue, have happened a few blocks off this section of Canal Street.
