Fresh off his Food Network debut this past summer, iconic restaurateur Edgar “Dook” Chase IV is preparing to open a quick-service chicken spot in a former Burger King in Mid-City. Located in a plaza at 512 City Park Ave., Drumbeat Southern Fried Chicken will serve classic Southern Creole-style food, according to permit documents filed with the City of New Orleans. The former Burger King will undergo cosmetic renovations and take on a tan, green, and black color scheme. The building’s footprint and drive-thru window will remain the same. Hours of operation have tentatively been set for 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. What Now New Orleans has reached out for more information.

Chase made his Food Network debut in July as a resident expert on the cooking competition Family Recipe Showdown. His day job still involves running his family’s restaurant Dooky Chase, along with other restaurants in his Chase Hospitality Group portfolio.
