In May 2023, nationally recognized Congregation Coffee closed the doors on its café and roastery, only to rise and shine again this past fall under new ownership and with a new café location in Algiers Point.
It appears that the beloved local coffee brand is coming back harder, better, faster, and stronger than a Daft Punk song with a new location now being planned for the French Quarter. According to plans filed with the City of New Orleans, the building at 618 Conti St. is set to undergo non-structural renovations ahead of a Congregation Coffee café opening on the ground floor. The café will be in a 1,084-square-foot space with a seating capacity of about 24 guests. A representative told What Now New Orleans that more details about the project would be forthcoming in the near future.
After being founded in 2015 and closed last May, Congregation Coffee was acquired by Patrick Brennan, who spent many years gaining experience in his family’s Ralph Brennan Restaurant Group. Brennan acquired the trademark from the previous owners and worked with them to bring back some of the former staff members. Brennan has also worked to restart the company’s Uptown roasting operation on Tchoupitoulas Street.
