Opened in 2017, Desi Vega’s Prime Burgers and Shakes is set to add a second location in Lakeview at 911 Harrison Ave. According to a permit filing with the City of New Orleans, the new location will be serving gourmet hamburgers, wings, and sides. The new location will also have a large open bar featuring cocktails, wine, and beer. What Now New Orleans was able to contact ownership earlier this week but did not receive any comment. According to a story at NOLA.com published later in the week, the new location will expand on the original’s winning formula, with table service and a focus on specialty cocktails.
The original Desi Vega’s Prime Burger and Shakes was opened by the owner-operators of Mr. John’s Steakhouse and Desi Vega’s Steakhouse, both located on St. Charles Avenue. Using prime beef, fresh-baked buns, house-made sauces, premium milkshakes, and hand-cut fries, the Harahan restaurant set out to upgrade the classic burgers-and-shake experience. The menu at the original location includes sliders and a range of unique burger creations. And then there’s The Desi Challenge Burger: made with a stack of five 8-ounce beef patties, lettuce, tomato, onion, and American cheese.
