Baton Rouge-based wing spot Empire Wingz is expanding to Lafayette, first reported by Developing Lafayette. The wing spot is opening on 1521 Ambassador Caffery Pkwy, in a space formerly occupied by a Subway Sandwiches.
Owner Vic Smith founded Empire Wingz in 2012, selling hot wings out of a nightclub he owned on Florida Boulevard called Empire. In 2016, he established a brick-and-mortar location near Southern University, Smith’s alma mater. He now owns seven locations in Baton Rouge and two food trucks, working toward a nationwide expansion. He’s starting in the next city over, with the forthcoming Lafayette location.
Empire Wingz is known for their wings and wide, wide variety of sauces, ascending in heat and capping at “danger.” You can accompany your wings with the restaurant’s signature VJ Fries, french fries latticed in barbecue and ranch sauce.
Empire Wingz does not have an opening date as of yet.
