Having just opened last year, the Big Cheezy fast-casual restaurant in Baton Rouge is preparing to open an adjacent patio bar concept called The Backyard. The new patio bar will be located in what is currently a parking lot behind Big Cheezy’s current location at 144 W Chimes St. in Baton Rouge. According to Business Report, The Backyard will feature a 2,500-square-foot patio, TVs for watching sports and a shipping container bar. The food menu will include Big Cheezy dishes and new special items. An opening date has been set for this spring, and What Now New Orleans has reached out for more information.

Big Cheezy it is only about a year removed from being a popular Tigerland food truck known for its melt sandwiches and mac-and-cheese bowls. In February, What Now New Orleans reported on the planned opening of the brick-and-mortar location. Owner Blaize Romancik had been in discussions to bring Big Cheezy to Tiger Stadium, but a deal fell apart at the last minute.
