Bourbon Street Restaurant China Moon Wok Closes
China Moon Wok, a family-owned Chinese restaurant at the corner of Dauphine and St. Ann streets, closed its doors after serving its final meal. The beloved eatery served locals and late-night crowds on Bourbon Street.
Vu took over the restaurant from her uncle after Hurricane Katrina, turning China Moon Wok into a true family-run spot where her mother and relatives often worked.
Vu described China Moon Wok as a cornerstone of her family’s life. “Moon Wok has been such a pivotal part of our lives,” she wrote. “Run by a family that made everyone who walked through these doors feel like family. Our mom was everyone’s mom.”
For Vu, the decision to close came after much reflection. “It’s sad to say goodbye,” she shared, “but please cheer us on as we look toward new endeavors and dreams.”
“This place will hold special meaning to us forever. Bao met his wife here through a takeout order. Kt met her hubby and had her babies here. And I had my first show as a venue owner. Plus countless other moments. There are literally so many!”, said on Instagram.
