With locations already in Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, Shreveport, and Sulphur, quick-service restaurant Golden Chick is planning to build a new location in Lafayette Parish. In July, the company bought a small plot of land at 215 LA 93 in the City of Scott, in front of a Super 1 Foods location. According to Developing Lafayette, construction on a new stand-alone Golden Chick location will start next year and will likely take six months to complete.

Originally called Golden Fried Chicken, Golden Chick was founded in Texas in 1967. The restaurant’s larger menu makes it stand out from similar fried chicken chains like Popeye’s and Raising Cane’s. That menu includes healthier options like roast chicken and fresh salads. The company currently has almost 200 locations in Louisiana, Texas, Florida, Oklahoma, and Nevada.
