A historic, shuttered Storyville building at 1216 Bienville St. could return to action as a bar and restaurant. According to permit filings with the City of New Orleans, the building would be renovated, and a restaurant concept for the space would involve serving New Orleans classics, including red beans, fried shrimp, fried fish, and meatloaf. What Now New Orleans was able to contact the building’s owners, and they are also considering having an operator rent out the space in place of their restaurant concept. The final renovation plans will be established in January, and a very tentative opening date for the restaurant would be in 2027.
During the Storyville era, the building was home to Frank Early’s My Place Saloon. It is one of three remaining Storeyville buildings. City-approved plans have called for restoring the building to its original appearance.
