However, a permit filing indicates the store will rise from the dead as a corporate-owned store. Founded in Missouri and known for a modern take on its namesake fry cake, Hurts Donut has 18 locations across multiple states. The New Orleans franchise location opened in 2019, and it changed hands in 2021. In addition to all kinds of unique donut creations, the New Orleans location has featured a King Cake donut during Carnival season.
