After establishing the first Louisiana-based Scooter’s Coffee location in Lafayette, franchisee Jesse Fontenot is looking to expand the brand again with another location in nearby Broussard set to open next year. A construction permit was just issued for that second location, at 5917 Ambassador Caffery Pkwy.

The drive-through coffee and café chain was established in Nebraska in 1998 and it currently has more than 800 locations across the country. It is known for a signature coffee beverage called the Caramelicious and scratch-made pastries. True to its name, Scooter’s Coffee is also known for its fast-paced service. Last year, Entrepreneur magazine ranked the company 59th on its list of top 500 franchises.

In 2023, Fontenot told The Advocate that he signed a deal to bring as many as nine locations to Louisiana. He plans to add another location in a large Acadiana market before bringing subsequent locations to smaller markets in Cajun country.
