When the Ace Hotel was rebranded in the spring, we lost one of the hippest hotel brands in the country. However, life goes on, even for the hippest among us, and the newly-branded The Bartnett hotel is poised to open a new Italian restaurant this winter called Brutto Americano. The name translates to “ugly America” and it’s a cheeky moniker meant to represent a blending of Italian and American cuisines. According to NOLA.com, the kitchen will apply Italian cooking techniques to a modern American pantry. Co-owners Brian Burns and Reno De Ranieri also own the local restaurants Osteria Lupo and Costera.

The new Italian restaurant will be just one of several new hospitality offerings at The Barnett. The coffee shop is now called Café at The Bartnett and the former Alto rooftop bar is now called The Rooftop at The Bartnett.
