Mae’s Bakeshop, owned by Jeremy Fogg, is getting a storefront location. Beth Biundo Sweets announced after six years of business the shop will be closing its doors this month — yet the 3917 Baronne St. location won’t be vacant for long as Fogg’s new bakery is set to open in its place this October.

Fogg knew early on that he wanted to be a chef, attending culinary school right after high school.

As a pastry chef at Emeril’s Lagasse’s flagship restaurant for six years, Jeremy Fogg gained recognition for his work. In 2016 he was named Zagat’s “30 Under 30” list, and he’s competed on a variety of cooking shows including the Food Network show “Best Baker in America,” and won cooking competitions such as “Chopped Sweets” and “Beat Bobby Flay.”

While working at Emeril during the pandemic, Fogg decided to open Mae’s Bakeshop as a direct-order business and would appear at farmers markets and pop-ups. The shop’s name was created as a tribute to the women in Fogg’s family who influenced his love for baking.

Fogg’s baked goods are rooted in his Southern family traditions, with biscuits, cinnamon rolls, pies, and cookies being the core of his business. Custom wedding and birthday cakes and other treats will be available for pre-order. Freshly made bread for toast and sandwiches will be made for the shop’s breakfast and lunch menus. The shop will be set up in a deli-style with mostly take away service.

Beth Biundo Sweets will remain open with regular hours until its last day on Aug. 19.
