Humid Beer, a tiny taproom brewery, is opening up this September on St. Charles Avenue.
Connor Martinez, a New Orleans native and owner of Humid Beer Co. promises to bring great-tasting NOLA-inspired brews. His passion for making homemade brews inspired the then-music booking agent to switch careers and start his own brewery business.
Located at 1728 St. Charles Ave, Humid Beer Co is moving into the building that was previously the bakery Pralines by Jean and will be the new adjacent neighbor of the Avenue Pub. Humid Beer Co. got its name from the city itself due to its noticeably heavy-handed humidity.
The renovations for the new pub are underway with new equipment being installed in time for their grand opening in the fall. The 1900 square feet, 55-seated taproom will include patio tables under its mural wall on St. Charles Avenue with a deck in the back.
The small-scale brewery is slated to offer patrons 15 different taps serving small-batch beers and can make 10 kegs at a time. Each beer will be uniquely crafted using a diverse batch of local ingredients that each represent a piece of the city’s history. Martinez told The New Orleans Advocate, “It’s a very New Orleans-focused concept, with beers based on New Orleans culinary and cultural ideas.”
Northern Most Point is an original brew named to reference the city’s reputation as the northernmost point of the Caribbean. The brew is made with Belgian wheat beer, key lime zest, and annatto seed.
Since beer and pizza are a no-brainer combination, Martinez opted for a variety of pizzas to be served on the menu at Humid. The pizza will be similar to Neapolitan pies with multiple topping choices.
Plenty of other breweries are moving in nearby, including Calliope Beer Works at 8801 Oak Street in August along with Ecology Beer Works at 1401 Baronne St., in the former All Relation brewery, which is set to open this summer.
