A quick-service sandwich and coffee shop called O’Bannon Street Café is coming to the West Bank, according to a filing with the City of New Orleans. Located in a former Subway at 501 O’Bannon Street, the planned café is owned by the Dunning Restaurant Group and Robert Dunning, a local restauranteur who owns several Dickey’s Barbecue Pit locations.

The new café is located adjacent to the New Orleans Military & Maritime Academy charter school and it’ll likely be a popular destination for faculty, students and parents. The coffee shop will be located in a multi-use building that has several other businesses, including a healthcare training center and a Navy Federal Credit Union branch.

While there is little detail available about the café, it should be well run. Owner Robert Dunning is a highly successful local business owner with a background in logistics for the United States Marine Corps. He has more than nine years of business ownership and says he is directly involved with leading these businesses, according to his LinkedIn profile.
