Lafayette baker Heather Steven may have started making sweet dough pies, pastries, cakes, and other baked goods as a side hustle, but now she’s preparing to open a storefront in the city’s downtown area. Set to open in December at 415 Lee Ave., Sugar Du Jour will feature the pies and other treats for which Steven is known. It will also sell breakfast pastries, biscuits, and croissants, according to Developing Lafayette. What Now New Orleans has reached out for more information.

When it opens, Sugar Du Jour will join an emerging trend of companies opening storefronts in downtown Lafayette. Earlier this year, What Now New Orleans reported on popular NOLA Nite Market vendor Banh Mi House opening a takeout spot in downtown Lafayette.
