After closing earlier this year, the long-standing Lakeview Brew Coffee Café is set to become a new full-service restaurant serving alcohol, according to permit filings with the City of New Orleans. A company called Aylamarie LLC recently filed for both a business license and an alcohol permit for the former café’s address at 5606 Canal Blvd. The former filing lists an October 1 as the planned opening date. What Now New Orleans has reached out for more information.

A new restaurant would be welcome news for the Lakeview neighborhood, as the café has been closed since this summer. Lakeview Brew was established in a former service station in 2007 by Randie Porobil, Lakeview native. Her café had been popular for its selection of international coffee and scratch-made food, developed using family recipes. It also hosted wine tastings, live poetry, book events, and music on its back patio.
