A new bistro is taking shape in a part of the 7th Ward that is already a hot culinary destination. According to permit filings, Respite will be a full-service restaurant at 2438 Bell St., Suite B, that promises a refined experience in a corridor increasingly known for sophisticated gems like Addis NOLA and Leo’s Bread, which is in the adjacent suite.

According to recent permit filings, Respite will offer a staff-led experience from the first drink to the final check. The menu leans into refined simplicity with a focus on seasonal, made-to-order fare. Early details reveal a curated small plate selection that includes house-made bread with cultured butter, rotating tartares, and seasonal cheese and pickle spreads. For more substantial dining, the kitchen will offer a classic Steak Frites, alongside rotating seasonal proteins such as duck confit, pork chops, or fresh Gulf fish. A focused program of beer, wine, and spirits will be available throughout all hours of operation.

Publicly available information suggests that Respite will be both a destination for foodies and a reliable “living room” for the 7th Ward community. What Now New Orleans was able to contact ownership, but they declined to offer additional details.
